ISO 9000 Quality Certification

Cafés Batalla always has the commitment to give the best quality in its products as well as the best service. That is how appears the idea of complement our own quality controls with the prestigious ISO 9000 Quality Certification and give and extra guarantee to our customers.

During the adaptation period we could prove that our work system complied with the ISO Rules and after some little adaptations in our process we got in 2000 the register 1319/ER/10/00 in accordance to the Rules UNE-EN-ISO 9002:94.

From then on, we have had several audits, which state our commitment. The last one has ratified us until January 2007.

In this continuous innovation line Cafés Batalla offers the products to the customers and all the certifications required that guarantees the authenticity and qualification of the products considered “special” such as the organically grown products and fair trade.

CCPAE (Catalan Council of Organic Agricultural Production)

The organic coffee trade requires some controls, certificates and rigorous authenticity guarantees. These certifications are only given for a harvest period and Cafés Tarrazú has its own guarantees of organic production given by the OCIA International (Organic Crop Improvement Association).

One of the essential conditions to market in our country is to have the CCPAE Certification, which establishes the rigorous controls of the product in its destination, before the roasting process starts. www.ccpae.org

UTZ KAPEH Certification

It is motivated for the consumers, accepted for the producers and it is a marketing initiative that has established the “honesty” standard for coffee production and the necessary help to achieve this objective.

Coffee producers with an Utz Kapeh certification comply with the Utz Kapeh Code of Conduct. This is an internationally recognized set of economic, social and environmental criteria for responsible coffee production, such as minimal and appropriate use of pesticides, protection of labour rights and access to education and health care for workers and their families.

The Utz Kapeh foundation has its own social projects programmes and accepts other projects presented by the ranches If they respect the Utz Kapeh Code of Conduct. www.utzkapeh.org

RAINFOREST ALLIANCE Certification

International Organization established in New York (1987) that works in partnership with Sustainable Agriculturist Web, to protect the environment, the fauna, the wild life and people.

The program for agricultural certification is an independent program that it is set under 9 principles some of them linked with Utz Kapeh.

Principles: Environmental Conservation, wildlife protection,

fair and right treatment of workers, community relationships, integrated handling of diseases, integrated handling of residues, water sources conservation, soil conservation, and monitoring plan. www.rainforest-alliance.org

Cafés Batalla has always cooperated with the guiding and spreading out associations of the coffee’s culture with the commitment of maintaining a standing communication with the market and the new trends that can improve the sector.

At the moment our company takes part as member of the AETC (Spanish Association of Coffee Roasters) and cooperates, as founder members, with the Forum Cultural del Café to promote the coffee culture. www.forum-cafe.com
